Friendly, COVID-Conservative, Lower Elmwood Home

We’re seeking up to 3 housemates (couple OK) for our friendly, quiet, spacious, 100 year old Berkeley house a block north of Alta Bates Hospital, less than a mile from the UC Campus, and an easy walk to BART, Berkeley Bowl, Whole Foods, UC, and... College Avenue. Prefer people planning to stay at least a year. Join a late 20's retail art worker unrelated to two active retirees.

The house has a living room with piano, large kitchen, guest room, three bathrooms, indoor hot tub, washer and dryer, and a wonderful back yard with redwood deck, vegetable garden, patio, and hammock.

We are being very careful about COVID, and we would need you to take the same precautions we do.

We don’t wear masks in the house but we do wear them inside other buildings, except for rare indoor uncrowded meals either in the home of friends or in restaurants. During the first 5 days after we return from trips where we were unmasked, we spend minimal time unmasked in the kitchen when others are present.

Two available rooms are 14" x 12'6", with 2 large windows and large closets. Rent is $1350 for one person, $1800 for a couple staying in one room.

A third available room is 10'6" x 14'6", with a large walk-in closet. There are 2 large windows, facing the neighbors. Rent for 1 person is $1050.

Utilities, (PGE, Water, and DSL) are included. We each chip in an extra $50 monthly for common expenses such as paper towels, toilet paper, olive oil, and the newspaper. No meetings (we discuss by email) or mandatory activities, but we do have occasional voluntary brunches, movie nights, etc. Sorry, but no pets.

A good place for an independent person looking for a companionable home.
