Lovely N Berkeley 3 BR home - walk to campus, shops, restaurants & parks

We are retired UC Berkeley faculty renting our lovely North Berkeley home 8/23/25 - 11/12/25 (with flexibility at either end). Our location near the Marin/Arlington Circle is very convenient for university visitors - 1 mile north of campus, a... 25-minute walk or 10-minute bike ride. The house is ideal for a productive sabbatical leave.

We’re close to all that North Berkeley has to offer - ¼ mile to Solano Ave shops and restaurants, ¼ mile to Live Oak Park (tennis and basketball courts, art gallery, community theatre), ½ mile to the Shattuck gourmet ghetto, and a mile to the Hopkins corridor markets. For trips to Oakland or San Francisco, we’re a 5-minute drive to the Downtown Berkeley or North Berkeley BART stations, and a 3-minute walk to a bus stop. For exercise and recreation, it’s a 5-minute drive to the regional Tilden Park with hiking trails and picnic spots, and 15 min drive to parks along the San Francisco bay.

Downstairs:
• On the first level is a multi-function bedroom with queen bed, desk & workspace, and French doors to the back patio.
• Next to the bedroom is a ¾ bathroom with shower.
• The track-lit living room features a library, stereo system, and working fireplace, and a filtered view of the bay.
• The family room offers a large wall-mounted monitor for streaming, and cabinets for storing games. It also has a view of the bay.
• The laundry room is next to the family room.
• The spacious and fully equipped renovated kitchen & dining room are at the back of the house, with French doors to the lovely garden.
• Our landscaped backyard offers two patios, patio table & chairs, gas barbecue, ping pong table, and fountain (not operational during the rental).
Upstairs:
• The master bedroom has a queen bed, closet, armoires, and a filtered view of the bay. We can add an optional table and desk chair.
• The smaller bedroom has a single bed, closet, and a Precor Adaptive Motion Trainer machine, and, again, a filtered view of the bay. We can add an optional table and chair.
• The large renovated family bathroom has an oversized walk-in shower plus a separate deep tub.
• (An additional upstairs study will be used for storage and locked during the rental.)

Rent includes internet, trash, ½ water (we'll cover the water used by our garden watering system), and housecleaning every 2 weeks. Given the short rental, we require advance payment of rent ($5300/mo.), security deposit ($5300), plus an estimate of gas & electric and ½ water charges. Upon our return, we'll refund any excess utility charges and the security deposit pending confirmation that our home is left in excellent condition.

Regarding accessibility: Our 2 story home is on the upslope side of our street with 26 steps to the front door.
