The cottage is near Westbrae Nursery and Berkeley Natural Grocery. The closest cross street is Gilman St. The place has a lovely garden, lots of light and southern exposure all day.
The cottage is small:... approximately 300 square feet. Imagine a bedroom with a kitchen and a bathroom attached. Ideal for a minimalist lifestyle. It is very private and a great space for a student or single professional. The cottage has hardwood floors, lots of windows, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom with shower.
Recent renovations include: a new clothes-washer, cooking stove, heater, Marvin windows, wooden shades, shower, and fresh paint.
The neighborhood is friendly, safe, and quiet. It is near main bus routes to San Francisco and Oakland and a ten-minute walk to the North Berkeley BART. It is an easy trip to UC Berkeley campus. The distance to campus is 1.9 miles.
I provide the cottage with garbage, water and wireless internet. I subsidize most of the utilities; however, I ask the tenant to include with the rent $150/month--this encourages conservation of energy and water.
The first and last month is required. I also ask for a $500 security deposit. For the past twenty years, I have always had the good fortune of returning the security deposit to every tenant that has resided here.
Street parking is available without zoning requirements. Potential tenants with good references and a credit report in hand will be given first priority. No pets. If interested, contact me via email.
